Artist, Nāda Yogi and Sonic Improviser
Alcyoni (from Alcyone, the Mother Star of the Pleiades, and yoni, Sanskrit for womb or source) is the moniker of London-based artist Bianca Chu. Her practice weaves devotional sound, mantra, medicine music and experimental voice into improvised ritual performance. Rooted in Nāda Yoga and the philosophy of non-duality, Alcyoni traces the dance of Śiva and Śakti—consciousness and vibration—as the pulse and container of creation. Her name encodes the near-exact conjunction of her natal Moon (29° Taurus) with the star Alcyone, separated by only twenty-one arcseconds. Listening to dreams, the nocturnal, and the unseen as fields of liberation and communion, Alcyoni works with harmonium, looper, and voice to craft sound as invocation–a bridge between xin (heart-mind), embodiment, and vital energy.
